Setting Up Tag Profiles
How to add detailed information to your QrioTag profiles — including pet, vehicle, device, and travel details — so finders see exactly what they need.
When someone scans your QrioTag, they see a tag profile — the information you have chosen to share about that item. A good profile makes it much easier for finders to identify your item and contact you.
Profile Types
Base Profile
Every tag has a base profile: item name, description, owner name, contact info, and found instructions.
Pet Profile
For QrioPet tags — add species, breed, vet info, medications, allergies, and vaccinations.
Vehicle Profile
For QrioBikeTag and QrioCarTag — add make, model, license plate, VIN, and insurance info.
Device Profile
For QrioSticker on electronics — add brand, model, serial number, IMEI, and warranty info.
Travel Profile
For QrioTravel luggage tags — add flight details, hotel info, and frequent flyer number.
What Is a Tag Profile?
A tag profile is the set of information attached to a specific tag. When you activate a tag, a basic profile is created automatically with the item name and visibility level. You can then add much more detail — descriptions, photos, contact info, and type-specific fields like pet breed or vehicle license plate.
Editing a Tag Profile
Go to Your Tags List
Click "Tags" in the navigation menu to see all your tags.
Click on the Tag
Click the tag you want to edit. This opens the tag detail page.
Click "Edit Profile"
On the tag detail page, click the "Edit Profile" button to open the profile editing form.
Base Profile (All Tags)
Every tag, regardless of type, has these base fields:
| Field | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Item Name | A short name for the item | "Car Keys" |
| Item Description | A longer description to help identify the item | "Silver Toyota key fob with a red lanyard" |
| Item Category | A general category | "Keys," "Electronics," "Pet" |
| Owner Name | The name shown to finders (can differ from your real name) | "Sarah J." |
| Contact Email | Optional direct email for finders | "sarah.tags@email.com" |
| Contact Phone | Optional phone number for finders | "+1 555-0123" |
| Found Instructions | Custom instructions for anyone who finds this item | "Please drop off at any Starbucks and leave a message." |
| Lost Message | Custom message shown when the item is marked LOST | "Please help me find my keys! I really need them." |
Contact Email and Contact Phone are optional. Even without them, finders can reach you through the anonymous messaging system. If you add direct contact info, it is only shown based on your visibility settings.
Type-Specific Profile Fields
Adding Photos
Photos help finders identify your item and confirm they have the right one.
Click "Add Photo"
In the profile editor, find the Photos section and click "Add Photo."
Upload an Image
Choose a photo from your device. It will be uploaded and shown as a thumbnail.
Add a Caption (Optional)
Add a short caption to describe what the photo shows.
Set a Primary Photo
If you have multiple photos, click the star icon on one to make it the primary photo — the main image shown on the scan page.
Reorder Photos
Drag photos to reorder them. The order determines how they appear on the scan page.
Do not include photos of sensitive documents — IDs, credit cards, passports — in your tag profile. These photos are visible to anyone who scans the tag, depending on your visibility settings.
Visibility Settings
Each tag profile has a visibility level that controls what information finders can see.
| Level | What Finders See |
|---|---|
| PUBLIC | Everything: item name, description, photos, owner name, contact info, and all profile details |
| CONTACT_ONLY | Item name and an anonymous contact form — no personal details, no photos |
| EMERGENCY_ONLY | Only emergency medical information and emergency contacts (useful for medical bands) |
| PRIVATE | Nothing — the scan is recorded but the finder sees no information |
To change the visibility:
- Open the tag's profile editor
- Find the Visibility setting (usually near the top)
- Select the desired level
- Click Save
CONTACT_ONLY is the default and is recommended for most items. It lets finders contact you without revealing your personal information.
Saving Your Profile
After making changes, click "Save" at the bottom of the form. A confirmation message will appear, and changes take effect immediately — the next scan will show the updated information.
