Emergency Medical Profile
How to set up your emergency medical information and contacts so first responders can access critical details by scanning your QrioTag.
Your Emergency Medical Profile stores critical health information and emergency contacts. When a first responder scans your QrioTag (set to EMERGENCY_ONLY visibility), they instantly see your blood type, medical conditions, allergies, medications, and who to call — without needing to unlock your phone or search through your wallet.
Your emergency profile is only useful if you keep it up to date. Review it regularly, especially after any changes to your medications, medical conditions, or emergency contacts.
Why It Matters
In a medical emergency, seconds count. First responders need critical information fast — before they can treat you safely.
Medical Info
Blood type, conditions, allergies, medications, and surgical history — displayed instantly on scan.
Emergency Contacts
Your emergency contacts with tap-to-call phone numbers. No app needed, no unlock required.
Critical Instructions
DNR orders, pacemaker warnings, preferred hospital, and special care notes shown front and center.
This information can make the difference between getting the right treatment quickly and dangerous delays.
Setting Up Your Emergency Profile
Go to Emergency Profile
Click "Settings" in the navigation menu, then find the "Emergency Profile" section. Or navigate directly to your emergency profile from the dashboard.
Add Your Medical Information
Fill in the following fields. All fields are optional — but the more you fill in, the more useful your profile is in an emergency.
Save Your Medical Profile
Click "Save" at the bottom of the form. You will see a confirmation message.
Adding Emergency Contacts
Emergency contacts are people who should be called if you are in an emergency. You can add multiple contacts.
Find the Emergency Contacts Section
On the Emergency Profile page, scroll down to the "Emergency Contacts" section.
Click "Add Contact"
Click the "Add Contact" button to add a new emergency contact.
Fill In Contact Details
For each emergency contact, provide:
| Field | Required? | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Yes | "Jane Johnson" |
| Relationship | Yes | "Spouse," "Parent," "Sibling," "Friend" |
| Phone | Yes | "+1 555-0789" |
| No | "jane@example.com" | |
| Primary Contact | No | Check this box if this is your primary emergency contact |
Set Contact Order
If you have multiple emergency contacts, you can drag them to set the order. The first contact is called first in an emergency.
Save
Click "Save" to store your emergency contacts.
We recommend adding at least two emergency contacts — a primary contact and a backup. Make sure they know they are listed and what QrioTag is.
How First Responders Access Your Emergency Info
When a first responder (paramedic, EMT, doctor, or bystander) encounters you in an emergency, here is what happens:
They spot your QrioTag
A medical band, QrioCard, or tag attached to your belongings.
They scan the QR code
Any phone camera works — no app required.
The emergency page loads instantly
A clean, mobile-friendly page opens in their browser, even on slow connections. It uses minimal data and does not require JavaScript to display essential information.
They see everything they need
- Blood type (prominent, top of page)
- Medical conditions
- Allergies (highlighted in red)
- Current medications
- Emergency contacts with tap-to-call phone numbers
- Special instructions and DNR status
- Physician contact information
Visibility Levels and Emergency Info
Your emergency profile visibility depends on the tag's profile visibility setting. For medical tags, EMERGENCY_ONLY is strongly recommended.
| Tag Visibility | Emergency Info Shown? |
|---|---|
| PUBLIC | Yes — shown along with all other profile information |
| CONTACT_ONLY | No — only the contact form is shown |
| EMERGENCY_ONLY | Yes — only emergency info is shown (recommended for medical tags) |
| PRIVATE | No — nothing is shown |
EMERGENCY_ONLY ensures that first responders see your medical information immediately, with no other personal information cluttering the page, while maintaining your privacy for non-emergency uses.
If you use a QrioTag as a medical ID, set its visibility to EMERGENCY_ONLY and make sure your emergency profile is complete. A half-filled profile is better than none, but a complete profile is best.
Best Practices
Review Every 6 Months
Set a recurring reminder to review and update your emergency profile — medications and conditions change.
Tell Your Emergency Contacts
Let them know they are listed, explain what QrioTag is, and confirm their phone number is correct.
Wear It Visibly
If you use a QrioBand or QrioCard for medical ID, make sure it is visible and accessible to responders.
Keep Medications Current
Update your medications list whenever a prescription is added, changed, or stopped.
Include Drug Allergies
Allergies to penicillin, aspirin, or iodine are especially important — these are common emergency treatments.
